Privacy Policy

In short: Mustang Mafia is a private app for members of the Mustang Mafia car club. We collect the information needed to run the club, we never sell your data, we don't use it for advertising, and we use your location only while you are in Cruise Mode or when you choose to share a location pin in chat.

1. Who We Are

Mustang Mafia is a private car club with chapters in New Orleans LA, Baton Rouge LA, Oklahoma City OK, and Thomasville NC. Mustang Mafia is an independent owners' club and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Ford Motor Company. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Mustang Mafia app ("App"). For all privacy questions, contact brandt.random@gmail.com.

2. Accounts and Membership

You create an account with an email address and a password — there is no social login. New members submit a request to join a chapter, and a chapter leader reviews and approves the request before full access is granted.

3. Information We Collect

Profile information

Name, email address, phone number, nickname, bio, and profile photo
Car details you add (year, make, model, trim, color, modifications)
Your chapter

Content you create

Chat messages in channels and direct messages, including photos, videos, and voice messages
Event RSVPs, polls, marketplace listings, showcase posts, gallery photos, and builds

Device and technical information

A push-notification token so we can deliver alerts to your device
Crash and performance diagnostics

Location

We collect precise location only while you are in Cruise Mode (a group drive), or once when you choose to share a location pin in a chat. See Section 5 below.

Payment information

We keep a record of your dues payment history — amounts, dates, and status. We never see or store your full card number; see Section 4.

Optional permissions

Calendar/reminders — if you choose to add an event to your device calendar, that information stays on your device.
Camera and microphone — used to take photos or videos and to make voice/video calls.
Face ID — used only to lock the App on your own device. Face ID data never leaves your device and is never sent to us.

4. Who We Share It With

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. The App relies on a small number of service providers ("processors") to function:

Stripe — processes chapter dues payments and chapter leaders' bank onboarding (Stripe Connect). Your card details go directly to Stripe; we never see or store full card numbers.
Sentry — receives crash reports and performance diagnostics (device model, OS version, app version, error details) to help us fix bugs. Sentry data is not used for advertising.
LiveKit — relays voice and video calls and push-to-talk audio.
Mapbox — provides maps, routes, and directions in Cruise Mode. Mapbox's own telemetry collection is turned off in the App.
Apple — distributes the App through the App Store, delivers push notifications through Apple Push Notification service (APNs), and (on iPhone) provides address search and geocoding through Apple Maps/MapKit.
Google — delivers push notifications on Android through Firebase Cloud Messaging, and sends account emails (such as password resets) through Gmail.
Expo — relays push notifications to APNs and FCM on our behalf, and receives your push token and the notification content to do so.
Giphy — when you search for or send a GIF in chat, your search terms and your device's IP address go to Giphy, and the GIF itself loads from Giphy's servers.
Nominatim / Photon (OpenStreetMap-based address lookup) — used for address lookup on Android only.
Our hosting provider — our own server, located in the United States, stores the App's database and uploaded files.

We may also share information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our members.

Within the App, other members of your chapter and club can see information you post — see Section 7.

5. Location

Cruise Mode. Once you join a cruise (a group drive), the App shares your live precise location with the other participants in that cruise, including while the App is in the background with your screen off, so the group can see where everyone is during the drive. Location sharing stops as soon as you leave the cruise.

Location pins in chat. If you tap to share your location in a chat, the App reads your current position once and sends it as a message to that chat. Nothing is tracked afterward.

We do not collect your location at any other time. The meetup map can show your own position on your screen, but that stays on your device.

6. No Advertising or Cross-App Tracking

The App contains no advertising SDKs and does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not sell or share your personal data for advertising purposes.

7. Visibility to Other Members

Mustang Mafia is a members-only community. Members of your chapter and club can see your profile, your posts (gallery photos, builds, showcase posts, marketplace listings), and messages in channels you share with them. If you block another user, that user can no longer message you or call you, and your messages, marketplace listings, gallery photos, builds, and showcase posts are hidden from them.

8. Account Deletion and Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active.

You can delete your account at any time in the App: go to Profile → Settings (gear icon) → Delete account, and type DELETE to confirm. Deleting your account removes your account and personal content immediately and cancels any active dues subscription. Messages you sent are deleted. Some records in shared spaces — for example, an event or poll you created — may remain visible to other members, but without your name attached.

Server backups roll off within 30 days, after which deleted data is fully gone from backups as well.

9. Children

The App is not intended for anyone under 13 years old. See our Child Safety Standards for more information.

10. Security

We use encryption for data in transit (HTTPS) and secure password hashing to protect your account. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no online service is 100% secure.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continued use of the App after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Policy.
